Following the adoption of the Jungle Bhoys Constitution at our recent AGM in July we are now a fully democratic constituted body of Celtic supporters. Thanks to the eight members who stood for election for the six places on the Committee and congratulations to those who were democratically elected.
JUNGLE BHOYS CONSTITUTION
1. NAME
1.1 The name of the group will be: JUNGLE BHOYS.
2. AIMS & OBJECTIVES
2.1 We aim to improve the atmosphere at Celtic Football Club matches, through encouraging the Celtic support to act as a 12th man by backing the team in song and colour throughout 90 minutes, win, lose or draw.
2.2 To achieve this through the active participation of the Singing Section and Green Members in setting up displays and the making and displaying of banners before selected Celtic matches throughout the season.
2.3 To ensure that the major anniversaries of all Celtic legends are commemorated appropriately.
2.4 To act as a representative group for Celtic supporters in negotiations with representatives of Celtic Football Club and other relevant bodies.
2.5 The Jungle Bhoys will be a non-political and non-sectarian group. The group will not discriminate on any grounds including those of religious faith, nationality or colour.
3. SINGING SECTION
3.1 The Singing Section will represent a deep devotion to Celtic Football Club through a celebration of its history, heritage, culture, tradition, pride, and humour.
3.2 The Singing Section will act as a catalyst to bring fervour and colour to Celtic matches.
3.3 We uphold the right of Celtic supporters to celebrate in an appropriate manner the Irish roots of Celtic Football Club and to express that unique heritage through colour and song.
4. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
4.1 The Jungle Bhoys shall consist of Green Members, First Team Squad and an Organising Committee.
4.2 The Organising Committee shall consist of six members elected by a vote of Green Members.
5. GREEN MEMBERS
5.1 Membership of the Jungle Bhoys shall be open to all Celtic supporters who agree to accept the groups Constitution.
5.2 Green Members are bound by the Code of Conduct at clause 11.
6. FIRST TEAM SQUAD
6.1 The First Team Squad will comprise of active Green Members that have demonstrated a sustained level of support and activity on behalf of the Jungle Bhoys.
6.2 Nomination to the First Team Squad can be by any Green Member but must be seconded by a First Team Squad member. Admittance to the First Team Squad must first be approved by the Organising Committee.
7. ORGANISING COMMITTEE
7.1 The Organising Committee shall consist of:
i) Chairperson
ii) Vice-Chairperson
iii) Secretary
iv) Treasurer
v) Communications Officer
vi) Social Convenor
Positions will be determined by the committee.
7.2 The Organising Committee has the right to co-opt members from the First Team Squad onto the committee for a limited period of time either to:
i) Fulfil a specific role in relation to a committee activity or,
ii) To replace an inactive committee member.
7.3 DUTIES OF OFFICE BEARERS
i) Chairperson: The Chairperson is responsible for convening meetings of the group and will conduct the business of all meetings of the group. The Chairperson is responsible for overseeing the responsible conduct of committee business.
ii) Vice-Chairperson: In the absence of the Chairperson the Vice-Chairperson will assume the duties of the Chairperson.
iii) Secretary: The Secretary will be responsible for group correspondence and shall ensure a proper record is kept of all meetings.
iv) Treasurer: The Treasurer will maintain group bank accounts and shall keep proper records of income and expenditure and report on them to meetings of the group.
v) Communications Officer: Will be responsible for fostering and developing links with the wider Celtic family as well as maintaining communications between the grass roots to every level of the Jungle Bhoys.
vi) Social Convenor: Is responsible for the organising and promotion of fundraising ideas and activities.
7.4 The Chairperson in conjunction and in consultation with the full Organising Committee shall be responsible for matters pertaining to the press and media.
7.5 Anyone delegated to represent the Jungle Bhoys in consultation with any other body shall act on the instructions of the Organising Committee and report back to the committee.
8. CONDUCT OF BUSINESS
8.1 The day to day running of the group shall be undertaken by the Organising Committee.
8.2 MEETINGS: Meetings shall be held as follows:
i) The Organising Committee shall meet no less than twelve times per subscription year.
ii) General Green Member's meetings shall be held no less than four times per year and shall include the Annual General Meeting.
iii) An Annual General Meeting shall take place in the month of June.
iv) Extraordinary General Meetings will take place according to the procedures for calling such a meeting (see clause 8.7).
8.3 CONDUCT OF MEETINGS: Meetings shall be called and conducted according to the following rules:
i) All meetings will be convened by the Chairperson or in his/her absence the Vice-Chairperson. In the absence of either of these positions a meeting shall be convened by a nominated office bearer.
ia) Notice of Annual General and Extraordinary General meetings must be no less than fourteen days.
ib) The quorum for a General, AGM or EGM will be one tenth of the membership.
ic) The quorum for a committee meeting will be a majority of its members.
ii) All meetings should be conducted in an orderly and respectful manner. Those who wish to speak should make themselves known to the Chairperson who will invite them to make a contribution at an appropriate time.
iii) Motions must be submitted in writing to the Secretary of the group no later than one week before the start of the meeting. Motions submitted late will not be taken.
iv) Emergency motions submitted on the day of a meeting will only be taken with the approval of the Chairperson whose decision will be final.
v) Where votes are taken these will be decided by a show of hands on a simple majority vote of those in attendance.
vi) Secret ballots will only be held according to the following circumstances:
via) Election of Organising Committee.
vib) Where two thirds of those present at a meeting request one.
vii) Eligibility for voting and submission of motions is three months membership. Members must be 16 years of age or over to vote.
8.4 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: An Annual General Meeting will be held in June each year. It will meet for the following business:
i) Election of Organising Committee members.
ii) To hear reports from Organising Committee of the previous year's activities and organisational business.
8.5 Elections will be held at each AGM for the purpose of electing three members to the Organising Committee. Organising Committee members will be elected for a two-year period and will retire for re-election per rota.
8.6 Nominees for election to the Organising Committee will come from the First Team Squad members. Nominees require to have at least one years Green Membership.
8.7 EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING: An Extraordinary General Meeting will only be held in the following circumstances:
i) On the petition of two thirds of the Green Membership
ii) By unanimous decision of the Organising Committee.
9. SUBSCRIPTIONS
9.1 Annual Green Member fees will be set by the Annual General Meeting.
9.2 Membership fees will be renewed annually and will allow membership for one Scottish League football season.
9.3 All subscriptions raised will be used in furtherance of the Aims and Objectives of the Jungle Bhoys.
10. FINANCE
10.1 The committee shall monitor all monies. The Treasurer will supervise and communicate the various expenditure and income transactions of the group.
10.2 Three office bearers will be authorised to sign cheques. The Treasurer and Chairperson will be the primary signatories to all cheques, the Vice-Chairperson will be authorised to sign cheques only in the absence of one or other of the primary signatories.
11. CODE OF CONDUCT
11.1 Members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring the Jungle Bhoys or Celtic Football Club into disrepute. Any individual whose behaviour or actions brings the group or the club into disrepute, runs contrary to the stated Aims and Objectives of the Jungle Bhoys or are likely to prove harmful to those aims, may find themselves subject to suspension or expulsion.
11.2 Any member considered for disciplinary action will be entitled to a hearing before the Organising Committee.
12. ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION
12.1 A proposal to alter the constitution must receive the assent of not less than two thirds of all Green Members.
12.2 The constitution can only be altered by a motion submitted to an Annual General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting.
13. RULES
13.1 Rules setting out the governance and conduct of business of the group will be formulated by the committee.
13.2 The committee is responsible (including for those it delegates, nominates or commissions) for the formulation and content of all statements and publications that are official representations of the group, whether in printed or electronic form and any other form of communication.
